Do your research at Remény Farm
Who this is for
Section titled “Who this is for”Mainly PhD research and research collaborations in ecology and regenerative agriculture. The farm is willing to put energy into these topics too.
Other topics are possible if the research needs no attention or time from the farm team. We take university theses only on regenerative agriculture, and only if the work needs no time from the farm team.
What we offer
Section titled “What we offer”- Field site: you can walk and work the farm on your own, the grove included. You can go to the closed livestock unit only at a separately agreed time.
- Data: a large part of the farm’s data is in Farmin, our farm management system. For an approved project we agree which data you can access.
- Accommodation: we can host researchers outside the summer period. Details: Research stays.
- Knowledge base: we share publishable results in the knowledge base, within the terms agreed in advance.
Existing data
Section titled “Existing data”- Cattle movement (Gallagher eShepherd). The main herd grazes with GPS collars and virtual fencing; the bulls do not wear collars. The system records the animals’ positions and the virtual fence cues.
Possibilities
Section titled “Possibilities”We can provide data or field access in these areas: grazing and pasture use, soil (for example soil sampling), water management, ecological surveys and monitoring, weather. We agree on the specifics based on your proposal.
What we need
Section titled “What we need”- More, and more reliable, weather stations.
- Passive measuring units that record without supervision.
If your project brings equipment like this to the farm, say so in your proposal.
Who we are looking for
Section titled “Who we are looking for”Self-directed researchers who plan, measure and work in the field on their own. Work the farm can learn from, and data that other researchers can use later.
Our answer depends most on how much attention and time the project needs from the farm team. The less it needs, the easier it is for us to say yes.
What we ask in return
Section titled “What we ask in return”The data you collect, with its documentation, in any format; there is no required template. We share the publishable part of the results in the knowledge base, within the terms agreed in advance.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”- Send us a short research proposal.
- We agree on the details: which data, which areas, what you plan to publish. If needed, we sign an agreement (NDA).
- Once approved, you get access. If the project needs data, you reach it through a private, machine-readable channel (API or MCP), with documentation. We agree on the exact form per project.
- You return the data and the results. We share the publishable part in the knowledge base.
Agreements and publication
Section titled “Agreements and publication”Much of the access needs an agreement (NDA), but not every project does. Soil sampling or ecological surveys, for example, are often possible without an NDA.
An NDA can open wider access, but it does not give permission to publish. We agree in advance which data you can access and what you plan to publish.
